Foot and Ankle

Welcome to the Foot & Ankle Center of Excellence.
Children’s foot and ankle problems can be hard to detect and diagnose. Kids are on the go all the time, and their feet grow so fast—just ask any parent who needs to buy shoes—that their conditions are often attributed to activity and growth spurts.
At The Pediatric Orthopedic Center, we’re pediatric foot and ankle specialists. We recognize that children have specific foot and ankle needs that cannot be treated the same ways as the foot and ankle needs of adults. And, we are acutely aware that foot and ankle problems in children must be caught quickly and taken seriously.
Some of the most common children’s foot and ankle conditions we treat include:
- Achilles tendon injuries
- Bunions
- Toe conditions such as hammertoes, webbed toes (syndactyly), extra toes (polydactyly)
- Clubfoot
- Flat feet
- Ingrown toenails
- Warts
- Heel pain
- High arch/cavus foot
- Foot and ankle fractures/sprains
- Sports injuries of the foot and ankle
- In-toe/Out-toe
- Ligament and tendon disorders/injuries
- Foot and ankle arthritic conditions
- Nerve injury or pain
…and more.
Our pediatric foot and ankle specialists can also prescribe orthotics and shoe inserts that are custom-made to fit your child’s foot in order to treat many of these conditions.
Parents should be vigilant if they see their children limping and complaining of foot and ankle pain. They should also be aware if their children suddenly reduce their physical activities and playtime, as these can be signs they are having foot and ankle problems.
Our pediatric foot and ankle experts at The Pediatric Orthopedic Center will provide competent and compassionate care, diagnose your child’s problem and determine a treatment plan that keeps your children active.
If your child is experiencing a foot and ankle condition, please do not hesitate. Call today at 973-538-7700 or request an appointment online.
Adult Foot & Ankle Care
The Pediatric Orthopedic Center also offers comprehensive adult foot and ankle care. Dr. Mark Solomon, a team podiatrist for the New York Jets, is a veteran of treating both pediatric and adult foot and ankle conditions.
Even the least active adults take thousands of steps a day, so the feet and ankles experience a large amount of wear and tear. Dr. Solomon understands the foot and ankle health needs of both children and adults and can effectively treat patients of any age.
Adult foot and ankle conditions Dr. Solomon treats include but are not limited to:
- Achilles tendonitis
- Achilles rupture
- Ankle pain
- Arthritis of the foot and ankle
