North Jersey Pediatric Orthopedic Center celebrates 3 decades of dedicated care and innovation.

This year marks a remarkable milestone as The Pediatric Orthopedic Center commemorates its 30th anniversary, a testament to three decades of dedication, innovation, and building trust within the community.

“I started The Pediatric Orthopedic Center 30 years ago with the goal in mind to create a center that provides outstanding care for children in our community,” reflects Dr. Rieger, the founding partner and visionary behind this esteemed institution. “Over the years, the practice has grown to include 8 pediatric orthopedists trained in all areas of pediatric orthopedics, a pediatric podiatrist, and an orthopedic-trained physician assistant. Among the 10 of us at the center, we treat all aspects of pediatric orthopedics from sports injuries and fractures, scoliosis, foot and ankle, hip disorders, and limb deformity, in addition to our newly launched Center for the Female Athlete.”

With a commitment to accessibility and convenience, The Pediatric Orthopedic Center offers appointments in Cedar Knolls, Wayne, and Springfield, NJ, plus an urgent care center at their Cedar Knolls location.

The doctors at The Pediatric Orthopedic Center come highly recommended and are loved by patients and their families. “Dr. Strassberg’s empathetic approach and clear treatment instructions left a lasting impression. … the care we received was exceptional,” states one parent. Another claims, “Exceptional staff and doctor! Minimal wait times, compassionate care, and a welcoming environment. Dr. D’Agostini’s expertise and kindness toward our daughter were truly commendable. We couldn’t be happier with our experience at this office!”

Reflecting on the journey of the past three decades, Dr. Rieger shares, “Looking back on the past 30 years, the greatest reward I have is seeing a child return to health. I believe that if you can change a child’s life, you can help positively change the world.”

The center exceeds the standards of medical treatment, stretching into the realm of inspiration and mentorship. “I am now taking care of my children’s children,” Dr. Rieger proudly shares. “We have stacks and stacks of cards at our office thanking us for taking care of children’s lives over the years. In addition, I have many former patients whom I treated as children who have now gone into the medical profession and written back to me saying that I helped inspire their careers in medicine.”

The legacy of The Pediatric Orthopedic Center is defined by not only its medical expertise but also its role in mentoring future generations of healthcare professionals. Dr. Rieger emphasizes the importance of paying it forward, urging those he has influenced to continue to influence those around them.

As pioneers in their field, the center embraces cutting-edge technology to enhance patient care. “We use the latest technology to ensure accurate diagnoses and maximize both non-surgical and surgical treatments,” explains Dr. Rieger. “We are the only practice of our kind in Northern, NJ to offer the EOS low-dose radiation x-ray machine, a groundbreaking imaging system that minimizes radiation exposure for our young patients and provides detailed 3D images of their musculoskeletal system.”

Their commitment to innovation extends to surgical procedures, with the utilization of the Rapid Recovery Pathway System for scoliosis patients. This approach ensures optimal outcomes, with 95% of patients walking the day after surgery and being discharged within 36 hours, minimizing discomfort and promoting swift recovery. Additionally, the center was one of the first to incorporate BEAR technology into their practice methods, evolving the treatment of ACL repairs to be less invasive and include less recovery time.

As The Pediatric Orthopedic Center celebrates its 30th anniversary, it is a testament to the impact the center has had on the community. Dr. Rieger and his team continue to uphold their founding principles, inspiring hope, and healing in countless children and families within the community and beyond.
