Dr. Mark Rieger is a compassionate and board certified pediatric orthopedist and the founding partner and senior physician at The Pediatric Orthopedic Center. His knee and shoulder arthroscopy skills earned him the recognition as one of the “Top 100 Minimally Invasive Surgeons in the Tristate Area” by New York Magazine. His expertise in treatment of adolescent sports injury, fractures and trauma, scoliosis, clubfoot and hip disorders have won him numerous awards including New Jersey Monthly “Top Doc,” “Best Doctor in America,” “Patient’s Choice,” and “Most Compassionate Doctor” awards for many consecutive years.

He earned his medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and completed his surgical internship and orthopedic surgical residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Rieger was a pediatric orthopedic fellow at the internationally acclaimed Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and has served as chief of pediatric orthopedics at Morristown Medical Center. He is an Assistant Professor at NYU Langone Medical Center, where he performs scoliosis surgery as a member of an internationally recognized spine center.

His expertise in trauma, sports medicine, arthroscopy, scoliosis, clubfoot and hip disorders is matched only by his compassion for his patients.

Dr. Rieger lectures extensively to physicians, nurses, physical therapists, trainers and parents in order to educate and pass on his experience and knowledge to the next generation.

David_Y_Lin

David Lin, MD, FAAOS

Specialty: Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery

David Y. Lin, MD is a board certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty interest in pediatric and adolescent trauma, arthroscopic treatment of sports injuries within the knee and shoulder, hip dysplasia, and limb deformities, including clubfeet. He earned his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, where he also completed his surgical internship.  Upon successful completion of his orthopedic surgical training at Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Center in New York City, he spent an additional year training younger orthopedic surgeons as Chief Resident.  Dr. Lin received advanced training in a pediatric orthopedic fellowship at the internationally renowned Campbell Clinic orthopaedic institution, affiliated with Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN, under the direct tutelage of Drs. James Beaty and Terry Canale—both past presidents of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA).  He returned back home to New Jersey in 2002 to join Dr. Mark Rieger at The Orthopedic Center at our main campus in Cedar Knolls.

Dr. Lin has specialized expertise in repairing broken bones, managing overuse injuries, treating meniscal injuries and reconstructing ACL tears in kids and adolescents of all ages. He enjoys combining and utilizing his electrical engineering background from Cornell University to optimize and advance musculoskeletal care, healing and recovery.  As a fellow of the AAOS and an active member of the POSNA, he is a strong advocate for orthopedic education and continues to teach physicians, residents, trainers, physical therapists, and students throughout the region. Dr. Lin is a long standing and repeated recipient of the “Top Doc” by NJ Monthly Magazine, “Favorite Kids’ Doc” by NJ Family Magazine, “Top Doc” by Castle Connelly, “Top Orthopedist” by the Consumer Research Council, “Top Doctor” in Inside Jersey, and NJ Top Docs awards.

Dr. Joshua Strassberg is a caring and talented board certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon specializing in pediatric sports and trauma injuries, as well as hip disorders. He is trained in the latest arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgical procedures including the latest surgical techniques for reconstructing the ACL in the growing child. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Strassberg earned his doctorate in medicine from New York Medical College, where he also completed his residency in orthopedic surgery. He furthered his training with a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, followed by an additional fellowship in adolescent and young adult hip preservation surgery at Children’s Hospital Boston. He has been published in well-respected journals such as Clinical Orthopedic Related Research and authored a chapter in Operative Techniques in Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Strassberg has a special interest in pediatric and adolescent trauma, hip disorders, and sports injuries. Samara Friedman, MD, FAAOS

Dr. Samara Friedman is a board certified pediatric orthopedist with subspecialty interest in pediatric and adolescent trauma, treatment of sports injuries including arthroscopic treatment of shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle injuries, as well as growth deformity.

She earned her medical degree from SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine in Stony Brook, New York after completing her bachelor of science at Cornell University. Dr. Friedman completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center before going to become a Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Fellow at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School and has been published several times in clinical journals.

A NYSCA Certified coach, Dr. Friedman spends time coaching the Millburn Short Hills Youth Baseball team. She is also part of the “Live From” program at Liberty Science Center, where she lectures regularly about orthopedic surgery as students view her surgical procedures. Dr.Friedman has been recognized several times by area publications as a “Top Doc”.

Tamir_Bloom

Tamir Bloom, MD, FAAOS

Specialty: Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Tamir Bloom is a board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon who treats children and young adults with a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal problems, including upper and lower extremity deformities, hip dysplasia, fractures, sports injuries and complex foot disorders, such as clubfeet. He has a special interest in neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida.

After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Bloom earned his doctorate in medicine from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. His residency in orthopedic surgery was completed at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He then completed a year of fellowship training in pediatric orthopedics and scoliosis at the Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego under the direct tutelage of Drs. Scott Mubarak, Peter Newton and Dennis Wenger—all past presidents of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA). Prior to joining the Pediatric Orthopedic Center, Dr. Bloom was an assistant professor at the Department of Pediatric Orthopaedics at the Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School from 2007 to 2014. He is a strong advocate for orthopedic education and continues to teach and train orthopedic residents and medical students. Dr. Bloom is a repeated recipient of the “Favorite Kids’ Doc” by NJ Family Magazine.

He has been published in well-respected journals such as the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research. He has co-authored several book chapters, as well as an online reference monograph for British Medical Journal titled “Torsion of the Lower Extremities in Children.” Dr. Bloom is a two-time US National Champion, two-time Pan-American Games Silver medalist, and a two-time Olympian, representing Team USA in fencing during the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympic Games.

Dr. Katsman

Anna Katsman, MD

Dr. Anna Katsman is a board eligible pediatric orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in adolescent sport injuries.

She earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA after graduating from University of California Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science. After medical school, Dr. Katsman completed a research fellowship in biomedical tissue engineering working to design bone regeneration tissues. Dr. Katsman graduated from orthopaedic surgery residency at Drexel University/Hahnemann University Hospital. She went on to complete a Pediatric Orthopaedic fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center and finished her training with a Sports Medicine Fellowship at New York University.

Dr-Solomon

Mark Solomon, DPM, FACFAS

Specialty: Pediatric Podiatry

At a young age, Dr. Solomon witnessed his grandfather’s diabetic foot problems and wished he could do something to help. Influenced by this personal family experience, Dr. Solomon developed his practice based on his guiding principle.

Dr. Mark E. Solomon is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He founded Advanced Foot & Ankle Surgeons of Cedar Knolls in 2003. As a leading foot and ankle specialist, Dr. Solomon serves as the podiatrist for the New York Jets Professional Football Team. He has delivered several lectures at leading institutions and businesses. Recently, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons invited Dr. Solomon to present two submissions at the annual conference in 2017.

As a part of a new generation of foot and ankle specialists, he is trained in the newest and latest treatments and techniques. He is one of a few hundred physicians worldwide who is trained to perform a state-of-the-art technique to help restore sensation to individuals suffering from neuropathy.

Although practicing a philosophy of conservative care, Dr. Solomon has performed hundreds of surgeries including those for bunions, hammertoes, aggravated nerves/neuromas, heel pains, sport medicine injuries, trauma, and diabetic limb salvage. He utilizes the newest most advanced technologies and procedures available and advanced pain management techniques. Dr. Solomon has earned the respect and gratitude of his patients. A respected veteran in his field, Dr. Solomon’s experience is valued for second opinions by his colleagues.

On a personal note, Dr. Solomon has two wonderful boys who keep him very busy. Dr. Solomon enjoys scuba diving and snow skiing.

Heidi Godoy, DPM, AACFAS

Specialty: Pediatric Podiatry

Dr. Heidi Godoy is a board-certified foot and ankle specialist with extensive training in reconstructive surgery of complex foot and ankle deformities, including joint replacement of the foot and ankle, flatfoot reconstruction, trauma, limb salvage and advanced training techniques in treating difficult wounds.

She earned her medical degree from New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York, NY after completing her bachelor of science at The College of New Jersey. Dr. Godoy completed her surgical residency in podiatric medicine at Geisinger Community Medical Center before going on to become the first Pediatric Foot & Ankle Fellow in the nation.

Dr. Godoy has lectured and presented on many topics related to foot and ankle surgery throughout the United States. She has a passion for helping others and has participated in many medical missions, donating her time and expertise abroad with various nonprofit endeavors. Her travels have brought her to many places including Peru and Honduras.

In her spare time, Dr. Godoy loves spending with her family and traveling. She is an avid yoga enthusiast, enjoys running, outdoor activities, and loves to cook healthy meals.

Jaime is a nationally certified physician assistant with New Jersey state licensure specializing in orthopedics. She earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Cook College-Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, and completed her master’s degree in physician assistant studies jointly at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) and Seton Hall University. In addition to an American Heart Association certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, Jaime is certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Practicing pediatric orthopedics since 2002, her interests include pediatric orthopedic trauma and clubfeet. Jaime has been an adjunct professor for the past several years at Seton Hall University’s Physician Assistant Program in South Orange, NJ. She provides education for students in topics such as Orthopedic Radiology, Orthopedic Physical Exam and Musculoskeletal Abnormalities.
