Pediatric Spine Specialists

At The Pediatric Orthopedic Center, we specialize in a range of pediatric spine conditions, particularly scoliosis. Our commitment to providing comprehensive care for children with spine disorders is unmatched in the tri-state area. Our team of pediatric spine specialists focuses on diagnosing and treating spinal deformities, ensuring that each child receives the highest level of care tailored to their specific needs.

Pediatric Spine Conditions We Treat

The team at The Pediatric Orthopedic Center prioritizes a conservative treatment philosophy. Our clinicians advocate for nonoperative scoliosis treatment unless surgery is necessary or has been proven to be the best option. Thanks to our innovative techniques, we have achieved a remarkable 96% success rate in treating patients non-surgically. This means that almost 96% of patients who would have required surgery 30 years ago if left untreated are now treated with effective non-surgical options and avoid surgery altogether.

When Should I See a Pediatric Orthopedic Specialist?

Parents often wonder when to seek care for their child’s spine problems. If you notice unusual curvature in your child’s back, uneven shoulders, or if your child complains of back pain, it’s essential to consult a pediatric orthopedic specialist. Early intervention is crucial in managing scoliosis and other spine conditions effectively. Our specialists are trained to assess and manage these issues, ensuring that your child receives the appropriate care and treatment in a timely manner.

Our EOSedge Imaging System

We are proud to be the only private pediatric orthopedic practice and scoliosis center in northern New Jersey to offer the EOSedge imaging technology. We can reduce radiation exposure to as low as 4% of traditional X-rays. The EOSedge imaging system provides detailed 2D and 3D images of bones, allowing for a more accurate assessment of spinal deformities. This advanced imaging technology aids in developing tailored treatment plans for each patient, ensuring they receive the best care possible.

Non-surgical Treatment

Almost 96% of our patients whose scoliosis, if untreated, would progress to surgical treatment are treated using non-surgical methods. Our in-house bracing, particularly the Rigo Cheneau Brace, allows us to provide comprehensive care under one roof. This innovative bracing solution helps manage scoliosis by guiding spinal growth and correction while being comfortable for children to wear. Our team of specialists works closely with patients and their families to create personalized bracing solutions that address their unique needs. We understand that each child is different, and our approach reflects this. In some cases, when bracing doesn’t provide enough correction, surgery may be required. Our experienced surgeons are well-versed in the latest surgical techniques to ensure optimal outcomes when surgery is necessary.

FIREFLY® Technology: Personalized Surgical Planning

When surgery is indicated, we utilize FIREFLY® Technology from Mighty Oak Medical. This patient-specific technology utilizes a patient’s CT scan to create a tailored surgical plan, along with anatomically matched 3D printed drill guides and an exact bone model of the patient’s spine. This comprehensive approach enables our surgeons to perform scoliosis surgery with greater speed and accuracy, resulting in improved patient outcomes.
